Maybelline Masterliner in Black Swatch and Review

Budget friendly eyeliner

My favorite kind of everyday eyeliner is retractable pencil kind. I love that usually they're not too black, so it's not heavy for everyday use. I also love how resilient they are. Enough to achieve the look beautiful without trying too hard effect.

For years I've been using revlon colorstay pencil eyeliner. It cost about IDR 65.000. I love it, it's so easy to use, affordable, easy to get, and so on.

About two months ago I went to carrefour, and I got a voucher. Well, what a coincidence, I run out of eyeliner. Carrefour doesn't have Revlon counter, what they have is Maybelline. I was going to buy their glossy liquid liner, because they're also super easy to apply, but then the SA is singing praises for this liner.

I figured, well let's try it. I did. And I am thankful for that. In my opinion, Maybelline masterliner is freakishly similar in everything (except the brand) with Revlon colorstay. That's not even the best part, it cost IDR 32.000. Which is half the price of Revlon's.

I like this eyeliner so much for everyday use. It's nothing fancy or high tech or anything, it's convenient.

I know you want some review. So, without further a do, I present you, Maybelline Masterliner.

retractable pencil
The packaging is very simple. It claimed to be waterproof, so after i swatched it on the back of my hand, i spray it with water. Just out of curiosity, I try to clean it with hadalabo face wash, you can see the result on the photo. Hadalabo can clean it nicely if I wash thoroughly. But this is on the back of my hand, which contain lesser oil than my eyelid.

claimed to be waterproof
Since it's an eye product, even though it doesnt claim to be long wear, I still going to wear this through out the day and review it. Nobody wants to touch up eyeliner.

So I'm putting this on at 9 am. I put thick line on my right eye, and thin line on my left. I also put it on my lower waterline, just to see if it'll stay.

9 am. natural light. wonky eyeliner, just in trend
I have to warn you, this kind of eyeliner does not want to be sharp and dramatic. The tip is not slim or sharp enough to make dramatic line or sharp cat eye. I still kinda try (not too hard, I'm afraid) to make cat eye, but meh.. I kinda accept that it's not the right tool to do so.

At 2 pm, I check back on my eyeliner.

2 pm. sorry for the inconsistent quality, natural light and all.
It still looks good. Juuust a tiny bit of smudge. I did rub my eyes a few times. Oh, and the line I put on the waterline is completely gone.

Last check on the eyeliner is on 6 pm. At this point, I'm just happy that I still wear it on my eyes. And it doesnt rubbed off. Smudge? Yes, rather badly. But for the most part, I didn't lost it. No touch up needed. Woohoo. Just to show you how bad it smudged I tilt my head up, and this beautiful photo is captured.

6 pm. So attractive, I know.
The top foto is the one I took at 6pm, the middle and down one is the one I took after I clean my face using only Hadalabo facial wash.

It's not completely clean right now, but believe me, after I wash my face in the morning, the smudge will be all gone.

All in all, this eyeliner is

Pros:
(+) Affordable
(+) Convenient
(+) No need to touch up
(+) Easy to find

Cons
(+) Smudge
(+) Casual wear only

Repurchase? I already bought two more, being a make up hoarder that I am.
